2017: Another Year of Increasing Mobile Players

This 2016 was an awesome time for online casinos. Prices for mobile technology were at a record low worldwide thus giving more people access to the latest and greatest of casino technology while on the move.

For the online casinos, this did not come as a surprise. Starting in 2010 we saw the number of mobile users connecting to the internet start to increase. The trend showed the possibility of mobile internet users catching up with the number of desktop internet users.

All the top online casinos foresaw this trend and started to change the way they operated/delivered their online real money gaming suites. Companies such as NetEnt and Microgaming started to design new platforms. Microgaming via Quickfire created their HTML5 platform to support iOS and Android.

Because of the 2014 mobile versus desktop internet users, online casinos were about to change for the better. It was that fruitful 2014 where we saw the number of mobile users connecting to the internet overtake the number of desktop users. Over the next 2 years, 2015 – 2016 the number of mobile users has continued to overshadow its desktop counterpart, and the online casinos were had already prepared for this huge mobile tech take over.

The stats only meant one thing for the online casino market. Increase all production of mobile operated games. We saw the poker sites such as PokerStars and the online betting sites like William Hill already delving into the mobile market and so the online casinos were inevitably going to follow.

After poker and online betting mobile technology it was the mobile slots that were the first to break through the market with an astounding number of games being released by the big-name providers.

Microgaming, NYX and NetEnt to name just a few of a dozen casino game designers/providers who have made the most noticeable contributions to the online casino market in terms of mobile gaming.

Over the past 4 years we have seen the push for online casino games to become mobile operated take several steps.

·         At first, we saw all new slots being created with mobile functionality
·         Next came the revamps – the older still incredibly popular slots becoming available on the move
·         Progressive jackpot slots became the next mobile trend with storied of mobile millionaires
·         Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat and other games start to take their mobile form
·         Scratch cards are now another popular option for online casino gamers

What a great few years we have seen as online casino players. And we will see 2017 develop what has already become an almost flawless online mobile casino market to keep up with this popular trend of connecting to the World Wide Web via our mobiles.
