Churchill Downs, the operating company of the legendary Kentucky Derby Racetrack of the same name, has officially entered the online casino games business with its purchase of Bluff Media.  Bluff Media is a poker content company run by Eddy Kleid, Eric Morris, and Jeff Markley.  Bluff Media publishes BLUFF, a print magazine, and BluffMagazine.com, the online version.  A number of associated websites were included in the purchase which was announced at the closing of the trading day.  Bluff magazine has an associated publishing company as well as a comprehensive poker player database called ThePokerDB.  ThePokerDB tracks poker players’ progress in games and tournaments and ranks them.  Other associated websites include the Bluff blog, Bluff forum, and a mixed martial arts magazine called Fight!

The purchase joins the bustle of activity in the American internet casino market as legalization creeps closer and closer to becoming a reality.  Churchill Downs is hopeful that the purchase of the popular online poker magazine will help them get on the right track towards operating a top usa online casino.

Although Bluff magazine does not have gambling with real money on its website, it does forward players to some of the best online casinos that do.  For Churchill Downs, though the purchase of Bluff Media is not an immediate entrance into the online casino world, it will certainly provide quite the marketing tool when they do launch their site.

Representatives of the two companies have reported that even though Bluff Media is now owned by Churchill Downs, the three senior managers Kleid, Morris, and Markley, will continue to work for the magazine.
