Cristiano Ronaldo Signs Up With PokerStars

By Debra SaundersGoogle
Cristiano Ronaldo, the winner of last year’s Ballon d'or (basically meaning he was the best footballer in the world last year), has signed up to be a brand ambassador for the online gambling giant.

He quickly announced the news himself via a personal Facebook video that he recorded. For those of you that did not know, Ronaldo has the most followers of anybody on Facebook with a staggering 103 million, so it is fair to say that this news spread rather quickly. He also has 35.5 million followers on Twitter, so for PokerStars to get such a man has to be considered a real coup for their site.

Ronaldo stated his love for the game of poker in his video and claimed that PokerStars were the perfect partner for him. He claimed he has been playing poker for a few years now and loves the strategy that is involved and said that he is really looking forward to getting on the tables and playing against some of the big name professionals.

Ronaldo is just the latest in a long line to sign up and represent the online poker/casino, with the likes of Boris Becker, Raphael Nadal, Ronaldo (the Brazilian one), Fatima Moreira de Melo and more recently football star Neymar.

Rather predictably, the screen name for Ronaldo over at PokerStars will be C.Ronaldo and will have to do some work as part of the deal. He will have to take part in marketing and advertising promotions and make special appearances at special live and online poker events.

The first rumored promotion is said to be later this year when players will be able to win a chance at taking on the world’s best footballer at the poker tables on PokerStars. Many might actually feel quite confident of beating the star, as he readily admits that his game is not as strong as he would like it to be. Still, being part of Team Sports on PokerStars will no doubt go a long way to helping him improving the weaker aspects of his game.

PokerStars has recently been moving in direction of casino games in recent months, now offering up a host of online table casino games such as roulette and blackjack. This transition is sure to increase further throughout this year but whether or not it will be a no deposit casino at some point is far from being known as of yet.
