Donald Trump, multi-millionaire entrepreneur, famous for his real estate investments, hotels, casinos and reality TV show, is setting his sites on a new venture – the online casino games market. Trump has expressed interest in diving into the online gambling industry as it becomes closer to being legalized in the United States.

There have been a number of reports that Trump Entertainment Resorts is in discussion with 888 Holdings about potentially joining the industry and what the next steps would look like for the company.

888 does not currently operate in the top USA online casino business, however, they are a leading company in the world market. Most recently, 888 entered into a partnership with Caesars Interaction Entertainment.

Last year, Trump began to express interest in the online casino games industry. Once legalization occurs in the US on the federal level, he and his companies plan to partner with Marc Lasry of the Avenue Capital Group to form an online casino games company.

In a recent interview, Brian Mattingly, CEO of 888, expressed excitement over the possibility of expansion to the United States. He said, “We have a unique position in the U.S. allowing the launch of a real money offering immediately as either federal or state based regulation is finalized and upon licensing by gaming authorities.”

Although Donald Trump has not entered into the online casino games world before, he has significant experience running profitable brick and mortar casinos and will be able to position his brand successfully once legalization occurs.
