Kahnawake Gaming Commission Revises Regulations

In the Kahnawake Mohawk Territory in Quebec, Canada, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission has made two major revisions to the online casino gaming regulations.  These revisions will impact players’ ability to self-exclude themselves from online casinos and will impact the ability of players to resolve disputes with online casinos.

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission has established a new self exclusion system.  Previously, a problem gambler was able to request self-exclusion from a specific site; however, that site did not prevent him or her from signing up for other sites.  With the new system, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission is establishing a centralized database for problem gamblers.  With the new database, a player can request to be excluded from all of the casinos licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.  All a player has to do is fill out a simple request form on the commission’s website; then a compliance officer contacts the applicant for verification purposes.  Self-excluded players who succeed in gaining access to Kahnawake licensed sites are requested to notify the Commission immediately.

The second revision deals with conflict resolution between operators and customers.  The Commission appointed a dispute resolution officer; the newly appointed officer will be in charge of addressing complaints and establishing their validity.  Online casinos will be obligated to respond to requests from the resolution officer within seven days.  This will force expedient handling of the complaint.  Customers playing online casino games at any one of the top online casinos licensed by the Commission who enter into a dispute with the operator simply need to contact the resolution officer via the Commission’s website and their dispute will be dealt with quickly.  Casinomeister, the fair play advocate and casino guide, awarded the Kahnawake Gaming Commission with the Phoenix Award for taking strong action to fix problematic issues in online gambling.
