Microgaming Releases Android Air

With the growing popularity of mobile gaming, it’s no surprise that online casino giant Microgaming announced the release of a new gaming platform geared to the Android mobile operating system.

At a press conference, Microgaming announced the release of their new Adobe Air based mobile gaming platform Android Air.  This new platform is usable on any smartphone or tablet running the Google operating system Android.  The mobile platform, though different than the classic version because it is specialized for touch-screen use, will run the same games popular on the regular online Microgaming platform.  At the moment, when purchasing the Android Air, the customer will receive eight Microgaming games with the purchase, but Microgaming plans to complete the conversion of at least twelve more games to the new format by the end of the year.  By updating the software via Android market, the players will be able to get the new games as they come out.

Testers were very pleased with Air’s user friendly functionality.  The Microgaming tools like Player Grouping, Virtual Pit Boss (VPB), and Bonus Balance will be available on the mobile platform as well.

At the press conference, Neill Whyte, the head of product channels at Microgaming, while they have been involved in mobile gaming for a few years already and happy with the success of they have already seen, Android Air is the largest mobile product they have released.  This new release is in line with their expectations that due to the rapid growth in smartphone use around the world.  His expectation is that the positive growth in the global Android market coupled with Microgaming’s already successful software development will position Microgaming at the forefront of the mobile gaming market.
