The number of online casino games players in Australia is rising. According to statistics provided by IBIS and Gaming Club, online gambling and top online casinos in Australia are set to grow by 3.3% in 2012. It is approximated that in this time, the online casino games industry will gain about $22.5 billion in revenue, with an average of $1,265 per person.

Looking more closely at the data, it is poker players who are on the rise in the country. Australia. Poker still remains at the forefront of the online casino games business, projected to make up 60.2% of total customer spending.

Terry Maverick, an official from Gaming Club stated, “The gambling industry has been very strong in Australia for many years now. This has clearly been helped by the growth of several online gaming websites that offer hundreds of online casino games. At Gaming Club, for example, we provide a great range of video poker, online casino, and table games, as well as free Loyalty Points every time you place a bet.”

Based on studies done during sporting events like the AFL and NRL, sports wagering makes up 1.6% of total online casino games profit and is expanding at a faster rate than horse racing, slot machines and lotteries.

Sally Gainsbury, from the Centre for Gambling, Education and Research at Southern Cross University, stated that the rise in mobile online casinos and bonuses coupled with increased access to technology has made it easier for gamers to place bets and access sites from wherever they are at any time of the day.

Gainsbury went on to say, “There’s been so much marketing it has allowed online gambling companies to really target sporting events and sporting fans. So now on TV when you see someone score a try in the corner of a field, there’s a Centrebet post that they are knocking over.”
