Unibet Group, the Malta-based company that offers players online casino games, online poker, and sports betting, has announced the acquisition of Bet24 from its competitor, the Modern Times Group. This marks a continuation in Unibet’s expansion as it recently purchased EurosportBet France in a deal with Solfive.

Bet24 is a popular platform in Northern Europe, known as a top online casino for sports betting and other online casino games, including poker, which is hosted on the OnGame Network. According to sources, upon completion of the deal, Unibet stands to pocket about €13.5 million for the entire Bet24 operation. With the acquisition, Unibet hopes to make its mark in the recently regulated Danish market.

Unibet intends to rebrand Bet24’s online casino games and online casino bonuses under its own name and move Bet24’s customers to its platform within the next couple of months. Despite this change, as part of the deal, Unibet has made it clear that it will continue to employ about forty-five Bet24 employees by transferring them to the offices in Malta.

Bet24 President and CEO Hans-Holger Albrecht stated,  “The sale of Bet24 is in line with our focus on our core broadcasting operations. We have developed and expanded our online betting and gaming businesses over the past seven years as the industry has become more and more competitive.

He continued on, "Unibet is one of the largest and most established players in the European market and therefore provides an attractive platform for Bet24 customers and for the further development of the business."
